The following are just some brainstormed ideas I have had for the project.
SAT-NAV
One of my first ideas was a satellite navigation system for mobile phones and PDAs, the service would use the same technology as in-car sat-nav systems but also allow users to then take the phone / PDA out of the car and use whilst walking or cycling.
I have since found out that this has already been released in a simple form on the Nokia E61 mobile phone. So onto some other ideas . . .
MINI FAIR 2007
My only 'event' idea so far is to have a distributed media campaign around the launch of the new re-designed Mini. I recently received a letter inviting me to the first new mini launch in the Beaulie Motor Museum (it was simply a sentence telling me to go online and register and they would get back to me - personally thought they could have put in a bit more effort.) Some ideas I have had content wise include a revised digital version of the 'Mini' car game, competitions, videos, pictures etc . .
MYSPACE GONE MOBILE
This is a very rough idea of having a user driven content / sharing service application similar to myspace (hence the name) where users can upload media about their daily life and it can then be distributed to their friends. The general concept is if a person takes a photo or video of something funny / interesting they can upload it and tag it with names of their friends on the service who may like to receive it. Those people then receive an RSS feed informing them and they can then pull the content.

ok i think it would be interesting to see this worked up a bit. It's increasingly common that cars are launched entirely online...could you do a spot the mini game for kids in cars? or how about a campaign aimed at mobiles ... maybe mix the last two up... kids spotting minis could be a really strong idea that they could score points on a national leader board for ythe cance to win their parents a mini(i might use it myself actually lol)... whatever it is the Mini campaigns are very slick, well designed, looks wise and ususally very intelligent...modern and classless.
There are lots of things you could do with this idea...look at marketng campaigns around cars and see what they do...you can find them by searching online.

Most social sofwtare servcies are going moile so again this has legs...have a look at http;//m.flickr.com to see how they do it with a photo service.
The key to this would be to look at who the key mobile users in the service might be...is it the under 18 females or not for example. Then look at what they do online...look for research into the chosen group and their online habits...you can find this by googling. Then map that onto the functions in myspace and pare it down to suit mobile.... very solid idea potentially....
Both ideas are strong...but work out on both how you make people feel that it's their own servcie... when you use a servcie such as this (blogger) how does this servcie make you feel that it's yours and how does it make you forget it is part of Google one of teh biggest corporations in the world.... they are very very good at this... One key thing is that the best social software services allow you to use stuff in your own way and thereforew to extend the servcies out beyond their own site...they also allow you remix and mashup content...maybe the best mobile approach might be to allow a user to chosse what is in theuir menus when they sign up and then to analyse what they use over time and make teh system self adjust to fit?
my apologies for spelling...actually my spelling is fine but my typing is bloody awful.
BTW I think, in answer to your question, you should exapnd the MINI idea....
